Oversees Adult Small Groups & Sunday Morning Groups
I believe that all people are 'called to ministry', but I remember exactly the day and place where I knew that God wanted me to work within the church. I was 16 years old worshipping in a high school student conference and it hit me. I wanted to make an eternal difference in the lives of young people and help train them up to become lifelong followers of Jesus! I spent the next 16 years of my life working either in children’s ministry or youth ministry. Now, I have the great opportunity to help people come to Experience Jesus in deeper ways. I believe that being involved within a small community of believers is an important step in our growth as disciples of Jesus.
I grew up in sunny and wonderful southwest Florida and shortly after High school graduation, found myself 800 miles away to the great state of Tennessee! I graduated from Johnson University (formerly Johnson Bible College) in Knoxville, Tennessee in 2005. I came to southern Indiana in the fall of 2005 and met my beautiful wife to be, Carrie, just 3 months after moving here. We were married in 2007 and we have 2 boys, Tyler and Andrew, and we’re expecting our third child in October!
On my off days, you'll find me reading, playing video games, catching up on some of my favorite TV shows and playing with my boys! I'm a huge science fiction fan and enjoy Star Wars, Star Trek and Doctor Who! I find it a privilege to serve here at FCC and look forward to many more years here!

Leads Involvement & Women's Ministries
After 20 years in public school teaching and administration, God called me to fulltime ministry here at FCC beginning in the summer of 2007. It is quite a blessing to serve in my home church where I grew up, learned to love God, know Jesus, and listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
I have a heart for God and for people and I have a passion to connect people to Christ, to each other, and to service in their God-giving giftedness. Ephesians 4:15-16 says,” Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” I truly believe everyone who desires to be a part of our church family has been brought here by the Lord for a very specific purpose. As Connections Minister, I have a unique opportunity to be able to assist people in discerning what that may be and connecting them to people and opportunities to do so. The greatest joy I have is seeing God at work in the lives of those trusting in Him.
I am blessed to be the wife of Greg Lewis, the mother of Austin and Lauren along with her husband Ben Kloke.
Outside of church, I enjoy spending time with family, reading, hiking, and spending time with our loving Golden Retriever, Samson.
I love what Paul has to say in his first letter to the church in Corinth: "There are different kinds of spiritual gifts, but the same Spirit is the source of them all. There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord. God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us." 1 Corinthians 12:4-6 (NLT)

Coordinates Traditional Service, Leads Generations Ministry, Choir, and Orchestra
I am blessed to oversee three ministries here at FCC. Worship at 9am includes Classic Music honoring our heritage with Hymns, Worship Choir, Orchestra, Children and Pipe Organ. Our Generations Ministry is designed for those 50 & Better and ministers to the fastest growing segment of the population, Baby Boomers as well as Traditionalists – The Greatest Generation. Community Outreach highlights the year with Green-Up honoring Earth Day. This Environmental Stewardship ministry shares Christ through service.
I am a history buff and Williamsburg, VA is my ultimate vacation spot. My favorite past time is trying to understand Japanese while hanging out with Asian friends at Starbucks. Hobbies include basketball, biographies & blizzards. I love Columbus and its people – Unexpected and Unforgettable.
I became a Christian on April 9, 1967. My Dad, who is still an active minister today, baptized me. My heart yearns to introduce people to Christ through these ministries and especially to our cultural diversified community.

Coordinates Contempory Worship and Helps with Technology
Originally from Indianapolis, I am now happy to call Columbus home. I keep thinking to myself "I can't believe this is my job...to help people worship God." While there is something important and special about our corporate times of worship, worshipping God isn't limited to music or the arts, but rather it is the out pouring of our very lives back to God. "Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship" (Romans 12:1). Another favorite passage of mine comes from Galatians 2:20: "I have been crucified with Christ, I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." For me, these two passages create a picture of what it means to worship our God and I hope my life would point others to Him.

Leads Middle & High School Ministries
When I was younger, I dreamed of being a part-time NBA basketball player, a part-time artist, and a part-time minister. When I noticed I was playing guard, forward, and center for my basketball team in junior high (I was guarding the water bottles, leaning forward, and sitting at the center of the bench), I decided that I wasn’t going to cut it in the pros. When art kept me from straight A’s, I decided I wasn’t going to be filling Picasso’s shoes. The truth is I wasn’t gifted for those two professions, even though I do love to watch some good basketball, especially my Kentucky Wildcats, and I love some good art, especially Thomas Kinkade. One gift that God gave me is a passion for connecting with people and connecting them to Jesus, so He used that to lead me to ministry. So I’m living the dream at First Christian. I am the student minister and it excites me to watch middle and high schoolers grow in their faith. I love meeting and getting to know the stories of people of all ages. My beautiful wife, Megan, our Miniature Schnauzer, Zoe, and I are blessed to be at First Christian and in the fantastic city of Columbus, Indiana.

Oversees Grades K-6
As a young girl growing up in Minnesota, I loved the church – Sunday mornings, singing in choir, playing organ, piano and helping with VBS. When I came to know Jesus as my Lord and Savior, I knew the future would somehow involve working with kids and I set out to become a pediatrician. But instead of medicine, God directed me instead to youth ministry and I’ve had the joy of serving churches in Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin and Indiana.
Since 2001, I’ve been in Dallas, TX working with the Josh McDowell Ministry as Josh’s executive assistant. I loved every crazy minute of my time with Josh, but also missed being directly involved with young people and, crazy as it sounds, I missed the Midwest! So, on September 2, 2016, I asked the Lord for guidance (and maybe an open door) as to His direction for my life. And, 48 hours later, I learned about the Children’s Minister position at First Christian Church and knew that was the open door I prayed for!
The adventure begins! I’m excited to be back in Columbus and to be a part of the First Christian Church family!
Tammy Hendricks - Early Childhood Director
Co-Leads Early Childhood Programming
I grew up in Columbus in a very loving Christian home and attended East Columbus Christian Church. I always wanted to teach young children, so I pursued my desire by attending Cincinnati Christian University and graduated in 1991 with a BS Degree in Early Childhood Education. I began working at FCC Preschool in 2000 when my son, Jacob, was three years old. I became the Co-Director in 2004. Before working at the Preschool, I was Program Director at the Foundation For Youth. I am married to Eric and we have a college aged son who attends Anderson University and a Pit Bull named Nacho. I enjoy working with such a talented and dedicated staff and meeting all the wonderful children and their families.
Laura Cox - Early Childhood Director
Co-Leads Early Childhood Programming
I am so fortunate to have attended First Christian Church my entire life. My formative years were shaped by so many great people in this church as well as my loving Godly family. When the director position became available I was very excited to have the chance to be a part of all the wonderful things that are going on with this body of believers. I began the co-director position in 2004.I started at the preschool as the two’s teacher. Prior to that I taught at the Elementary level in many public and private schools here in Columbus. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Hanover College. I teach in the Toddler room on Sunday mornings as well as help out with the teenage youth. I am married to a wonderful man named Brian. We have two terrific children Morgan and Bryson. I love working with children of all ages but there is something special about the preschool aged child. Their eagerness towards life and learning creates a special excitement that is contagious.

All Church Communications
I am married with 3 growing boys, Tim, Ryan & Braeden. I was invited to FCC back in 2001 by my aunt, Norma Gelfius and have been attending here ever since. All 3 of my boys attended Preschool here and I only have WONDERFUL things to say about our Preschool. I was downsized from my "real" job back in 2007 and was at the church so much I got a job. I truly feel that this is where I am meant to be and am honored to serve the church. It is amazing how much we worry about things and how things will work out in God's timing! I cannot imagine working anywhere else. My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 and I hold tight to God's promise in this verse. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this team!
